This year, the 8th annual Ovarian Cycle Birmingham invites EVERYONE in the community to join together and ride to raise funds to support ovarian cancer research. The new 3-hour event format is designed to engage and encourage more people in the community to participate. You don’t have to be a cyclist or athlete or an ovarian cancer survivor or family member – each and every one of us can make a difference in the lives of many.

Will you join us? It’s easy! Register here.

8th Annual Ovarian Cycle presented by the Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation

Ovarian Cycle is a meaningful and high energy group indoor cycling event that places riders and spectators in a large open space together pedaling, sweating, and cheering for a common cause. You’ll love experiencing the dynamic environment created when people come together to raise funds for the important cause of supporting ovarian cancer research. Plus, there’s great food and refreshments – and a few other surprises along the way.

The Big Event:
Sunday, March 1, 2015
9:00 am-12:00 pm

There are FREE training rides to help you build confidence and endurance for the final ride as well as make new friends and rally around the mission.

  • Sunday, February 22nd 2:00-4:00 pm

Registered participants can take advantage of free spin classes prior to the final ride on March 1st at the Levite Jewish Community Center.

The event and training rides all take place at the Levite Jewish Community Center.

This year, Ovarian Cycle has fine-tuned the format to create a 3-hour cycling event to encourage the entire community to participate.

Here’s how YOU can get involved:

  • DIY RIDE: “Do It Yourself” while raising funds by riding the full 3 hours.
  • TEAM RIDE: Develop a team of 3 riders for an hour each and enjoy the camaraderie of achieving your goal together. We can also help you form a team!
  • MEN for the O: Men care about ovaries too and this year they show it by riding DIY or in TEAMS.
  • VIRTUAL RIDE: Can’t join us in person? No worries, like we said – everyone can participate! There is no registration fee and no fundraising minimum goals for virtual riders.
  • SPECTATORS: To keep our riders going and show that the entire community cares about ovarian
cancer research, we need people to come out, watch the action, and support the riders!

Ovarian Cycle Birmingham is open to ages 12 & up.

Registration Fees:

Riders 12-25: $25 (use code UNDER25)
Riders 26 & older: $50 (early registration is $35 by January 7)
Survivors: FREE (use code “SURVIVOR”)

Participants can register as individuals or as part of a team and ride for any increment between 1 and 3 hours.

Fundraising Minimum Goals:

  • 3 hour ride $500
  • 2 hour ride $300
  • 1 hour ride $200

Riders are asked to raise the fundraising minimum prior to the final ride.

Don’t worry, we’ll help you every step of the way! Once you have registered, we will give you a page to personalize and fundraising tips so that it’s easy and fun to reach your goal.

In addition to support and encouragement, everyone will receive an event t-shirt and gift bag loaded with goodies!

  • Ovarian Cancer is the fifth leading cause of death among women in the United States and is the most deadly of all gynecologic cancers.
  • Ovarian Cancer is not an uncommon disease occurring in 1 of every 71 women.
  • When ovarian cancer is detected early, before it has spread beyond the ovaries, more than 90% of women will survive longer than five years. Only 19% of women are diagnosed in the early stages.
  • Currently, 50% of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer die from the disease within five years. When diagnosed in advanced stages, the chance of five- year survival is only 44%.
  • Ovarian cancer is often difficult to diagnose because symptoms may be subtle, are easily confused with other diseases and because there is no single reliable easy-to-administer screening tool.
  • A woman can get Ovarian Cancer even if her ovaries have been removed.
  • Every dollar raised from Ovarian Cycle goes to further research and awareness of ovarian cancer. Every dollar makes a difference in the lives of so many.
