About Us

History & Mission

The mission of the NLOCF is to raise funds for ovarian cancer research through various events and opportunities and to increase awareness about the risks, symptoms and treatments of this disease. NLOCF also donates care packages to women undergoing chemotherapy and serves as an information service for individuals who are seeking information regarding ovarian cancer, its signs and symptoms. Our hope is that Norma Livingston’s death will make a difference in other women’s lives.

The Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation is a 501-(C)(3) nonprofit organization started in January of 2004 by Lori Livingston who lost her mother, Norma Livingston to ovarian cancer. Since its founding in 2004, the Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation has donated over $1,400,000 to ovarian cancer research.

Norma was a healthy, active 65 year-old woman who was rarely sick and very proactive about her health. She went to her internist complaining of weight gain, abdominal discomfort, and a chronic cough. When the diagnosis was finally made, Norma had stage 4 ovarian cancer. She endured nine hours of surgery, countless rounds of chemotherapy and experimental drugs…Thirteen months later she passed away and left three wonderful daughters behind.

Norma’s story is similar to so many, diagnosed too late with the chances of survival slim. Lori decided to make a difference in the fight against ovarian cancer and hence the foundation was started to prevent others from losing their loved ones from this deadly disease.
